Could have predicted...

I could have predicted that this blog would not go anywhere.  It's weird too, because this year there is SOOOO MUCH to talk about.  The US political system has gone off the rails.  Nobody can remember a time when things have gotten this nasty and every election someone brings up some obscure race where one candidate called the other candidate something horrendous, but this year everyone just looks at each other on the talking head shows and sort of shrug and says "Nope...this is the worst."  A couple of weeks ago, for instance, in the nationally televised Presidential Debate, Trump threatened that if he wins, he is going to appoint a special prosecutor to put Clinton in prison.  Seriously, that's what he said.  And now he's saying that the election is rigged.  What the FUCK?!?  Not even your drunk uncle gets away with that shit.  But, that's not even getting attention because the Friday before the debate a video came out where he was bragging...

Game Of Thrones rant (with spoilers! So you've been warned)

I started reading the GOT books before I knew they were not a completed series.  That's the last time I ever do that, but what is done is done.  (And I guess, what's not done is still not done)  But after I finished the books (which I read one after the other with all the spare time I had on busses, on lunch breaks, as I was making dinner so some things got over-cooked. and before bed.)  When the books ended my imagination took over and I had all kinds of sub-plots going for Bran, Arya, Jon and Daenerys. (Not Sansa, because I could not have given a fuck about Sansa.) So, now the TV show has overtaken the book.  There are still some scenes that are hold overs, like Arya being blind and ...maybe that's it.  But they had so many possibilities. Now, The Red Woman brings Jon back from the dead.  Just like that.  It's as if the writers of these new seasons have not even read the books this show is based on.  THE most obvious way Jon comes back ...

I'm getting old

You know when you're a teenager and you see your mom and dad and their friends sitting around the table drinking, laughing, telling stories everyones already heard a million times and playing cards and smoking cigarettes.  They looked so old, didn't they?  Chances are they were just in their late 30s or early 40s.  Now I am nearing 50, I have a grown daughter (still living with us) and late 30s and early 40s doesn't seem so old anymore. I have recently started exercising almost daily (for the last 2 and a half weeks) and that just makes me feel old too.  I remember a time when doing these things was easy.  I mean easy to work up a sweat, strain every muscle and push it to almost the breaking point and feel good afterwards.  Not any more.  Sure I feel better after a while, and it's nice not getting winded just going up the stairs, but back in the day, right after a hard workout I would feel energized and ready to take on the world.  These days I ...

Wandering aimlessly also begins with one step

I was cycling through blogs today and I was coming across mostly just dreck. God awful shit that was a complete waste of time and some that was just like, why? Then I came to a blog called Particulations . I only read one article but I learned a new word; stravage. To quote the post, "Stravage, verb (used without object). Scot., Irish, and North England. To wander aimlessly." He adds "They say it is probably a shortening of the word 'extravagate', which means stray or roam but can also mean "to go beyond proper limits"." Perfect. Sounds a little roguish, a bit adventurous and not completely safe. OK. Let's do that. Fuck it, why not? I've had a lot of blogs and they all seem to peter off. I find that I end up trying to make them about something rather than just throw shit out there and see if it sticks, so they get to be constricted. So for this one, I'll talk about what ever is on my mind. So be forewarned. Sometimes what'...
