I'm getting old

You know when you're a teenager and you see your mom and dad and their friends sitting around the table drinking, laughing, telling stories everyones already heard a million times and playing cards and smoking cigarettes.  They looked so old, didn't they?  Chances are they were just in their late 30s or early 40s.  Now I am nearing 50, I have a grown daughter (still living with us) and late 30s and early 40s doesn't seem so old anymore.

I have recently started exercising almost daily (for the last 2 and a half weeks) and that just makes me feel old too.  I remember a time when doing these things was easy.  I mean easy to work up a sweat, strain every muscle and push it to almost the breaking point and feel good afterwards.  Not any more.  Sure I feel better after a while, and it's nice not getting winded just going up the stairs, but back in the day, right after a hard workout I would feel energized and ready to take on the world.  These days I just want to find a brew house and have a beer, lick my wounds and tell all those young dudes to fuck off.
