The numbing deluge
Everyday there is a
s new outrage. The steady stream of
stuff coming from the White House and congress that we should be losing our
minds about is starting to wear me down.
After going after Clinton (both of them) for stuff that should not have
been scandals and just barely bad decisions, the things that the right is
willing to turn a blind eye about would be breathtaking if it wasn't so
commonplace. It reminds me of what it
would be like if I lived in a place that had nothing but dramatic sunsets and
grand canyon Swiss Alp views all the time, only in reverse. At some point you'd get jaded. If you lived in a miserable dung heap of a
rainy smelly desolate back woods back alley you'd get a little callused
right. So this is not paradise or Hell,
but it's relentless and unless we start picking our battles we will get wore
down. We need to stop giving a shit that
the deputy spoke liar was sitting on her knees on a couch in the Oval Office
when Trump was standing for a photo op.
Because Congress is trying to repeal the ACA without having any sort of
plan to replace it. Stuff like
that. Any one of these things that would
have caused the fake outrage machine on the right to kick into overdrive if it
had happened during Obama's administration are being shrugged off by the same
machine since it's happening on Trump's.
OK. Well that's hypocrisy for
ya. But, a lot of this stuff is real and
dangerous and we need to focus on that.
Focus on the
conflict of interests, the foreign influence via these conflicts, and the
Russia connection. Focus on the attempts
to defund and dismantle the parts of the Federal government that should be
working to keep us safe. Focus on the
ineptitude of this administration when it comes to foreign policy. Focus on their attacks on the press and on
the demonization of minorities. Don't
fall for stuff they say and don't fall for the sleight of hand. Keep your eyes on the ball. When the ball
comes up missing, don't be dazzled by the trick, demand he produce the
ball.
